Happy HoliDOGs & A Nippy CHEW Year!

"Silver Balls"

Silver balls, silver balls,
It's Dogmas time in the city.
Jing-a-ling,
Hear the leash ring.
Soon it will be Chewtoy Day!

LOCATION:  Hartford Dog Park
                  260 Gulph Creek Rd.
                  Wayne, PA 19087

DATE & TIME: Saturday, January 2nd, Noon to 2pm

THE SCOOP:
Dog Park HOWLiday Party!

LIFE SNIPPET: DOGmas is around the corner and every good dog deserves a romp and a "pawty" all their own. The Hartford Dog Park party accomplishes both!  Delta (my Vizsla seen in his above yearly HOWLiday "PETrait"), my two kids and I have been going for the last three years.  It's a chance to mingle with like-minded dog lovers, eat (bring something, if you want), have your dog sit on santa's lap, pay your yearly club dues (a miesley $15) and let your dogs run amok with their friends.

The dog club culls some killer items from area businesses like Dogma Premier Dog Spa, Spots, Radnor Veterinary Hospital, Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals, Family Pet Resort, Buzzy's Bow Wow Meow, Lucie's Pet GroomingBraxton's and this year, stayMor.com photography (aka Stacey P. Morgan), donated a copy of my book -- "AlphaPET Zoup A to Z".  So come "pawticipate" and join in the festivities.

FYI: Guard your food!  A couple of years ago my kids were tailgating and some savy dogs sniffed, snatched and ran away with their yummy ham croissant sandwiches. Afterwards, they were looking around with their doe eyes saying -- "Please Sir, may I have another?"  (said with a "ruff" cockney accent)!

HAPPY HoliDOGs & Nippy CHEW Year!!

"Mudday Style" VS. "Holiday Style"

LOCATION: Wayne, PA

THE SCOOP:  "Mudday Style" (B&W film with Sepia tone) vs. "Holiday Style"(B&W digital with Hand-painted colors).  Post a comment and VOTE on your favorite!
  • FILM vs. DIGITAL: So I've gone ahead and asked Santa for a digital camera (my research has brought me to a choice between the D90 and the D700). I'm leaning toward the D700 due to the full-frame capability.  I've been waiting for Nikon to get the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) thang going on a pro SLR camera for a while.
LIFE SNIPPET: All I know is what a difference four months can make! Not only in the growth of my children as seen above in the two photos but to the demise of my lab in CT processing traditional black-and-white film, to borrowing a neighbor's digital camera, to realizing 2010 is the leap into the digital world for me!  Plus, I don't know if it's the digital thing or not but my kids and dog "clean up real nice" in the "Holiday Style" picture and are the shiny-est silver balls of all to me!

FYI:  If you gaze into the silver ball of the future you can see I'm -- "Having a Ball" (pun intended) with a digital camera.  Nothing better than instant visual gratification!

Turkey Day - An American Holiday

"Bleeding Out"

LIFE SNIPPET: Thanksgiving is coming to an end and I am sufficiently stuffed--with mashed sweet potatoes, string beans almondine, cranberry-raspberry mold (my contribution), stuffing and yes some turkey.
I was reminded about this photo story I did for the Philadelphia Inquirer almost 25 years ago.  Funny how alot of animal rights have come to the forefront since that time and yet getting a turkey to the table really hasn't changed all that much.  Chew on that for a bit.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Happy DOG Day!!

"Nice To Smell You"

LOCATION:  Skunk Hollow (behind The Willows Mansion)
                  490 Darby-Paoli Road
                  Wayne, PA  19087
THE SCOOP:  Great Fall foliage, off-leash, dog friendly trails with a stream!

LIFE SNIPPET:
Well it is my Vizsla's birthday today--he is 9 years young.  And if you know your seven times tables (dog years), that translates into a ripe-old, middle-aged number of 63 (human years).  We actually celebrated it on Sunday by going for an off-leash hike at Skunk Hollow and buying a couple of bully sticks and a Pheasant squeeky toy for him at Braxton's.  We also scheduled a special day of spa treatments at Dogma Premier Dog Spa to celebrate his "dog day".
In our house, we are what you might call "dog gaga".  I, Stacey P. Morgan, am not only a fine art, black and white, still film photographer (
stayMor.com) but actually specialize in photographing dogs, something I call "PETraits".  I also have a home based business boarding dogs known as Dogville Bed-N-Biscuit.
Needless to say, Delta has allowed a myriad of dogs into his own doghouse over the years bestowing the  perfect phrase--"some kind of special"!

HAPPY DOG DAY, DELTA!!

"At Home With An American Girl"

LOCATION:     Wayne Art Center, Davenport Gallery
                    413 Maplewood Ave., Wayne, PA
EXHIBITION:    Member's Juried Exhibition
                    October 25th to November 21st
JUROR:          Michael Gallagher, PAFA Professor
AWARD:        The Ritz Camera Award

The juror, Michael Gallagher, Associate Professor of Painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, selected 78 works from a pool of 149 entries.  The above entry by fine art photographer, Stacey P. Morgan, is a B&W, hand-painted, limited edition (1/8), archival inkjet photograph entitled, At Home With An American Girl and received The Ritz Camera Award.

LIFE SNIPPET:   This happens to be a picture of my daughter so it doesn't get anymore personal than that when photographing.  I showed it to her after it was hand-painted and framed, right before I took it to the art center.  I said, "What do you think?" and she said, "I don't really like it that much.  I don't think it looks like me."  After I won the award from the juror and told my two kids the good news during dinner, my daughter changed her tune.  She said, "So you mean I won!"  And I said, "I guess, in a way you did."  She then skipped out happily to tell all her neighborhood friends--so I think she likes it now?!

"Ardrossan Tree-O"

LOCATION:     BlinkArt Gallery
                    108 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA
EXHIBITION:   Juried Photography Show
                   October 10th to October 31st
JURORS:        Tor Chaiken, BlinkArt Gallery Proprietor
                   Justin A. Bradley, Photographer
AWARD:        First Place

The juried photography exhibition had an open theme showcasing 60 photographs from approximately 40 established and emerging artists with all mediums of photography represented.
During the opening reception in early October, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were announced.  First Place was awarded to Stacey P. Morgan for her three Spring landscapes—Other Side of the Pond, Majestic Trunk in Spring, and Fronds First.  All images are from her ongoing body of work entitled “The Four Seasons of Ardrossan” .  The First Place Award grants Ms. Morgan a retrospective, solo, show slated for Spring 2010 in the Olde City gallery.

LIFE SNIPPET:  I love, love, love trees!!  You could say I'm a "down to earth" kind of gal.  That being said, it only makes sence for me to be involved in open space and land conservancy.  I didn't have any images to donate to the Radnor Conservancy's fund raiser a couple of years ago so I offered up a picture of a small Corgi amid a large wooded landscape.  While attending the event, I walked out on the great lawn of the old estate and took one look at the lone sentry, "Majestic Beauty", and it has been calling me back in all of God's different season's.
